If you are new to bitcoin, you will have probably come across the term “stacking sats” on social media.
In case you still aren’t 100% sure what it means, you are about to learn.
What is Stacking Sats?
It’s a meme.
It’s a lifestyle.
Well, at least if you believe the ladies and gentlemen on Bitcoin Twitter. 🙂
The actual definition of stacking sats is much simpler though.
Stacking sats refers to regularly buying or earning small amounts of bitcoin.
Sats is short for satoshis, which is the smallest unit of Bitcoin. One satoshi is equal to 0.00000001 BTC or one hundredth million of a bitcoin.
The idea behind “stacking sats” is to accumulate a large amount of bitcoin by stacking small amounts over a long period of time.
By regularly accumulating bitcoin, you are engaging in an investment strategy called dollar-cost averaging.
|Dollar-cost averaging refers to buying a fixed dollar (or euro) amount of an asset at regular intervals over a long period of time.|
This investment approach reduces the impact of market volatility and allows small investors to accumulate a large position in an asset or basket of assets over time.
Dollar-cost averaging is especially popular among bitcoiners because of the digital currency’s relatively high volatility, which makes it difficult to time the market. Or as bitcoiners would say, “To buy the dip.”
By regularly stacking sats instead, you can dollar-cost average bitcoin to accumulate a large pot of “digital gold” without having to worry too much about the price volatility or by putting too much money down in one go.
In fact, that is exactly what we built Relai for! 🙂

And that’s it!
Stacking sats can be that easy using Relai.
